There is only 2 days until the #citizenrelay leaves its home in Paisley and makes it way down to welcome the torch as it arrives on Scottish soil on the evening of the 7th June. We are now positioning our ‘Glasgow to Inverness’ Reporters in places along the June 9th plans (signalled by * if we have a team here, also where we are driving through and welcome to meet people on the route who get in touch) Check out when the torch is passing through and why not get down to the passing points to capture the stories that aren’t told in the mainstream media. You can submit this here.
Travelling to Glasgow to Inverness in one day is no mean feat – this is will easily be our hardest leg of the journey, mainly due to the roads and the fact that LOCOG think they can get a 3 mile convoy of sponsors and security between Tyndrum and Fort William in the time allocated. Therefore, the bus will have to set out to get ahead of the torch, like elite torch chasers, we will be dropping into Tarbet and Crianlarich the night before, before staying over in Tyndrum in a log cabin (yes really!) Our Glasgow reporters from June 8th will be heading out earlier to meet the torch in Bearsden, Clydebank, Dumbarton and Luss using public transport – whilst the citizenrelay convoy will push on to cover Glencoe, Fort William and beyond ahead of the events themselves on the 9th. We aim to get to Inverness for 4-5pm so we can gain access to the evening celebration – and set up a two day community media centre to hand those from Aberdeen and Moray who will meet us there.
